Eloise - 18 months

My baby is growing up so fast!  It's truly amazing that a year and a half has gone by already.
Stats from her 18 month check-up:
Weight: 23.10  40th percentile
Length: 33 in  85 percentile
Head Circumference: 47.2  69 percentile

Eloise still loves to dance.  When she hears music she goes to bobbing, starts swaying those hips and her arms go to swinging.  It's so cute!  I love to just make up songs for her to dance to throughout the day.  Sometimes she even dances when there's no music.  Just today she was just a bobbing to the treadmill in the gym.
I've been worried about her speech.  When they asked if she can use 7-20 words at her check-up I wasn't sure I could say yes.  When I really think about it she does say more than I give her credit for.  Some of the things she can say are mom, dad, hi, bye, baby, ball, dog, "there you are", no, shoes, cheese, bubbles.  She babbles ALL day long.  Clearly she's trying to tell us something but it just comes out in a cute baby jumble.  She's getting there!
Eloise biggest comfort is her belly button.  She has to touch it while she falls asleep, when she's drinking or just watching tv.  She lets me know she's not happy when I put her in a onsie or romper.  The car seat is another place it's hard for her to find it too.  She lets us know when she needs help getting to it.  She loves to get our belly buttons too.  She lets out at silly giggle as she attacks out bellies!
She LOVES babies.  She is such a sweet mommy to her babies.  She rocks them, kisses them, wraps them in blankets and pushes them around in their stroller.  She's just started to pull out her diaper and wipes to give her babies a "dia cha" (diaper change).  It's really cute aside from the mess she makes.  Her wipes now have to be stored on top of her changing table.
She also loves clothes.  Most babies want to take their clothes off but this girl is always trying to put more on.  Last night she struggled to put on two pair of pants and a shirt over her pj's.  The clothes she wants on but the diaper she wants off.  If she doesn't have pants on she's ripping the diaper off!
I'm not saying she's ready for potty training or that I am either but she has been very interested in the toilet lately.  When in the bathroom she wants to sit on the toilet like we do, she has to get toilet paper and flush the toilet.  She even tells me when she needs her diaper changed.  She'll point to her diaper and say "dia cha".  Maybe we should get her a potty chair and see where it goes.
This girl is a picky eater.  She loves just about any pasta dish.  She wont even try veggies.  There are a few Gerber meals with veggies in them that she'll eat thank goodness.  This makes me worry so much! She loves popcorn, cheese, Pringles, and the filling of Oreos.
Now that it's getting warmer we've been spending more time at the pool.  We go nearly everyday.  She loves it.  During the week it's less crowded which is nice since she likes to run around from chair to chair.  She'll get on a lounger and lay on it for a while then turn over to her back for a while.  There's a little splash area at the pool.  She has to turn it on when it turns off but then she runs away as fast as she can!  She's much braver when there are other kids playing in the sprinklers.  Maybe by the end of summer she'll be running in and out of them too.  She's discovered the ice machine in the cabana so she has to run back and forth to munch on ice while we're there.
Eloise loves to play peek-a-boo, chase and ring around the rosies.  We've recently started playing the game where you hide something in one hand and you guess which hand it's in.  She LOVES it.  She laughs and laughs.  She tries to pick both hands at once most of the time.
Her favorite pajamas are her blue zebra ones.  When I let her choose which she wants to wear she ALWAYS picks them.
Eloise loves shoes.  She is always pulling my shoes out and either wearing them her self or putting them on me.  She loves her pink saddles.  For a while there she refused to wear anything else.
She is a girly girl.  She loves pinks, purses, lotions and make-up.  When I get ready for the day she has to sit on the sink by me.  She plays in my make-up bag, mousse in her hair, she has to put lotion on too.  She loves to carry purses - or anything she thinks is a purse.
She is my big helper.  She likes to help clean, cook, put groceries away.  She still hates the vacuum.
When I pull it out she still gets a little panicky and has to be held the whole time.  She does like to try and push it once I'm done.  A little progress is better than none!

She runs more than she walks.  She's getting pretty fast now too.  When we go up or down stairs she has to try doing them on her own.  She's slow but usually gets there in the end.  She has been trying to jump.  It's so cute seeing that one foot come off the ground.  There have been a couple times they've both come off the ground.  It usually happens when daddy comes home.  You've never seen a happier girl than when daddy comes home.  She hears the keys in the door and she darts to him.  It's so sweet.
Oh we love this little girl.  She makes us laugh everyday.  She melts my heart with just a look.  We feel so very blessed to have her little personality in our family!

NCO of the Month

Glen studied hard, worked hard and won NCO of the month!  We are oh so very proud of him.  (Doesn't he look so nice in his class A's?)  Now on to NCO of the quarter then the year.  You can do it!

Canning

While we were in Macclenny a batch of green beans were ripe and ready to be reaped!  Glen and William picked them, Aunt Pat, Taylor, Granny and I canned them.  Eloise wanted to help too.
She helped wash the beans and put them in the jars.  Such a big helper!

It took all day but we got them all snapped and canned!

Sea World/Disney

During Glen's leave we spent a day at Sea World and a day at Disney.  Surprisingly enough Eloise enjoyed Sea World more than Disney.  (Crazy baby.)  We went straight to Sea World from Macclenny.  It was a bright sunny day.  We first went to the dolphin show.  I wasn't sure how Eloise would do - she doesn't like to be still for too long.

She was mesmerized!  She loved watching the dolphins jump and the birds fly in and out of the crowd.  It was GREAT!
She rode every ride she could and loved them all!  During the tea cup and boat rides she had a huge smile on her face till they spun/swayed too much she'd panic a little.  Once they slowed down that smile would come right back.

She loved steering the ship and ringing the bell!

Eloise was so good during every show we went to.  When the scary sea horse came on the screen during the Allure show she actually covered her eyes!  I've never seen her do that before.
As with the Dolphin show Eloise liked the Shamu show.  Too bad we couldn't stay for the whole thing.  Just as the show was starting she dirtied her diaper.  The third one that day.  The last diaper change was so bad i used all the wipes and her pants got dirty.  The show was going to be our last stop so we just left early.  Glen carried her like this all the way to the car!
While we were in Orlando we stayed with Glen's sister Emily.  Eloise had a good time with Maya and Allison.

Our second day in Orlando was dedicated to Disney.  We first went to Typhoon Lagoon.  Eloise didn't like the sprinklers in the kid section but loved the lazy river and wave pool.  Eloise fell asleep on the way to the Magic Kingdom and didn't eat much once we got there.  A hot, hungry, tired baby isn't the most fun.  She wouldn't even ride a horse on the carousel.  She screamed and cried till we put her on the bench.  She liked the tea cups if we didn't go too fast and got a little scared on Dumbo when we moved up and down.  The one ride she really loved was Small World.  She was pointing and looking at all the dolls.  She couldn't get enough!
She spent a lot of time on daddy's shoulders.  We also went to the tiki room show.  I thought it was a little annoying but she danced the whole time!
By the end of the day she was passed out in the stroller and barley batted an eye when we put her in the car.

Summer vacation 2012

Glen took a week and a half off and we headed south!  We were so excited to see our family and friends.  Eloise got a nice treat on the way - a milkshake!  She loved it and did really well with it too.
 Yeah she liked it.
We first spent a few days in Macclenny.  While we were there we went to Hudson and Chapman's last soccer game.  Eloise wanted to go out on the field and play too.  Glen and Bryn chased her down the whole time.
In the end the boy's team won and they both scored a goal too!
We spent a lot of our time just relaxing and enjoying our time with family.  Granny was set on making us fat the whole time we were there.  She always wanted us to eat and of course she made my favorite key lime pie.  Yum!

Eloise loved playing with her cousins.  They picked blue berries, went swimming, played with sidewalk chalk and swept the driveway.

Eloise LOVES dogs.  Poor Coco was just the right size for her.  Eloise would chase her around everywhere.  Coco was sweet and let Woo pick her up here and there.
We celebrated Bobby and Uncle Robert's birthdays while we were there.  They each had their own cake.  We couldn't find the box of candles but I was able to find four in a drawer.  One of them turned out being a trick candle.  Notice in the picture Chappy covering his face.  The candle had just sparked.  It surprised everyone.  It was so funny!
My cousin Jenny got married while we were there too.  It was the sweetest wedding.  I'm so glad we were able to go.  I didn't get any pictures of the bride and groom though.  I don't know what I was thinking.  The kids got out on the floor to danced and collect the rose petals.

The Padgett's had a little bonfire one night.  The s'mores were so good!  Too bad Eloise was already in bed and couldn't come out too.
After Macclenny we spent a couple days in Orlando visiting Sea World and Disney.  From there we popped in on Glen's grandparents and sister Liz.  Eloise loves to play with her Brock cousins.  Ethan was so funny doing his Elmo voice for her.

Then we went to visit the Bowen's.  They are moving to Hawaii in about a month so this was the last time we'd see them for a long time!  (So sad but exciting at the same time.)  Again I didn't take any pictures!  I did get one...

We ate dinner at Bobby's parent's after church and met the new addition to the family.  Eloise didn't like the elk!  It was crazy big!!

We had a great time on our little vacation.  Now we're looking forward to our cousins coming up to visit us!

A farewell to Trey

Glen's brother Trey is being deployed to Kuwait in a few days.  Luckily Glen had the day off so we were able to go to his farewell party.
It was nice to see everyone again.  Eloise had a blast playing with her cousins.
She loves Sarah.
Sarah is so sweet to show Woo so much attention.  Sarah watched her when they were playing outside.  Which was most of the time we were there.
If it has a handle she'll try to carry it like a purse.
Eating dinner between Grandma Wisa and Grandma Sarah.
She looked so sweet looking out the window.
All the siblings (minus Emily) and their mom.
Eloise was good in the car for the most part.  She loves to make us laugh with this face.

It was too short a visit but a good one non the less.  I'm glad we were able to see Trey before he left.  We hope he has a safe and quick deployment.
